Residents of West 4th Street between 12th and Bank Streets never thought their block would become a noisy restaurant row, but the City’s wholly out of control Open Restaurants program, which has unnecessarily continued post-Pandemic, has them furious. The whole block has restaurant sheds in the street. One restaurant, the Wesley, is open air, so when residents leave their home they face the dining area. The City keeps issuing citations for garbage and rats, but they are ignored. The three restaurants involved, On Bank, The Wesley and Café Cluny, have met with residents and show no sign of giving in unless forced to. Residents are organizing and may be in court soon.
